Designed and built in 1962 by architect Gerald Stark for his family,
the original residence occupies a deeply wooded Bellevue site within
walking distance of downtown. The addition/remodel preserves the
house's visual hierarchy, reinforces its relationship to the wooded
slope, improves daily access, and brings daylight deeper into the home.
The project works through transitions: between old and new, house and forest,
family life and independent occupancy, filtered daylight and open sky.
